This course is designed to ensure students acquire the essential medical science knowledge in relation to problems of the cardiovascular, respiratory and haematological systems. It is based on a series of common medical problems of these systems. This course is a Compulsory Program Component and students must pass in order to progress in the Bachelor of Medicine program.
ObjectivesAt the end of the course, students shall demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the following areas as they relate to the cardiovascular, respiratory and haematological systems. 1 Scientific method relevant to biological, behavioural and social sciences at a level adequate to provide a rational basis for present medical practice, and to acquire and incorporate the advances in knowledge which will occur over their working life 2 The normal structure, function and development of the human body and mind at all stages of life, the factors that may disturb these, and the interactions between body and mind 3 The aetiology, pathology, symptoms and signs, natural history and prognosis of common mental and physical ailments in children, adolescents, adults and the aged. A more detailed knowledge is required of those conditions that require urgent assessment and treatment. | ||
