LAWS courses are only available to students enrolled in Bachelor of Laws (LAWS) degree programs.

Introduces students to the laws governing the existence, ownership, use and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including copyright, designs, patents, and trademarks, as well as the law of breach of confidence, passing-off and deceptive and misleading conduct.

Objectives
By the end of the course students should be able to:
-discuss the broad philosophical underpinnings of intellectual property law;
-identify from a particular fact situation its general intellectual property implications;
-demonstrate an understanding of how to apply the law to resolve problems in the area;
-demonstrate an ability to research a complex legal question and to deliver timely and accurate advice on that question.
