Students who have successfully completed the course LEGL2004/LEGL3111 The Law of Employment are precluded from enrolling in this course.
Deals with the law governing the formation, content and termination of employment relationships. The complex body of federal and state statutes which regulate paidwork relationships, as well as common law rules, will be examined.
Objectives1. To equip students with knowledge and understanding of the complex body of law which governs the employment relationship; 2. To critically examine the policies which underpin this body of law; 3. To understand the evolving nature of employment law; 4. To further develop the capacity to apply rules of law. | ||
ContentThe topics to be covered are formation of employment relationships, those features which distinguish a contract of employment from other contracts, the content of employment relationships, breach of a contract of employment and termination. | ||
