Description

This course will focus on improving students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and building up their confidence to discuss issues of everyday life in conversational Japanese.

Please note: Students are required to enrol in the face-to-face version of this course if they live within 25 kilometres of the Callaghan campus. The online version is available only to students who 1) are enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts Online, 2) are based overseas or outside the Newcastle region, or 3) have completed the 1000-level JAPN courses online. Exemptions are granted upon application to the course coordinator.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Communicate effectively in Japanese.

2. Use appropriate styles of speeches according to different situations.

3. Understand cultural aspects of human interactions in Japan.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of aspects of Japanese society.

Content

This course will provide training in communication skills using written and audio-visual materials.
