Develops a student's skills and competencies in the final preparation and communication of research findings. The information technology research project, as either a thesis or technical/creative project and dissertation, will be finalised under the supervision of the student's honours research supervisor. INFT4040 involves discussion of research findings, their reconciliation with existing bodies of literature, and the development of the final research project. The thesis as a research project will engage with research presentation in a traditionally accepted way. If the research undertaken is in the form of a technical or creative project, it should explicate and analyse the work and processes involved and demonstrate the common research objective which underpins it. This course includes presentation of research findings and the submission of a completed research project in the area of information technology, which will be theoretically, methodologically and technically sophisticated and for which a final grade will be given.
| Objectives | In this course students will: 1. complete a research plan; 2. where appropriate to the project, analyse collected data and communicate the results in a meaningful manner; 3. demonstrate critical and analytical skills appropriate to Honours level; 4. continue to develop time management skills appropriate to research at Honours level; 5. complete a research project for final presentation. 6. discuss of research findings using appropriate communication skills. 7. finalise a theoretically, methodologically and technically sophisticated research project. |

| Content | The content of the research project will be substantially determined by the student, in that the student will choose, in consultation with the Honours Co-ordinator, the topic of his/her thesis or technical/creative project and dissertation. The project area will determine the detailed content. Finalising a theoretically, methodologically and technically sophisticated research project appropriate to Honours level. |
