Addresses the techniques and tools used to construct modern information systems, especially those relating to electronic businesses. It equips students with business analysis skills to facilitate communication with information systems professionals.
The need for development methodologies that support the emerging need for flexible, and interactive and evolutionary construction is emphasised.
Object-oriented frameworks are introduced and their application is demonstrated through the use of realistic business related case studies and examples. Modelling techniques are introduced for modelling all aspects of information systems.
This course has a Compulsory Course Component in the final examination.
| Objectives | The course aims to ensure that students will be able to: 1. describe the role of information systems in the modern business; 2. explain and demonstrate the correct usage of an information system development methodology; 3. analyse and design information systems; 4. demonstrate an understanding of the life cycle and techniques used in an information systems development methodology; 5. demonstrate the ability to develop and validate information systems models; 6. construct a database system. |
