This course provides students with an understanding of the need for evaluation of health promotion interventions, and skills in determining whether interventions are effective in achieving their stated goals.

Objectives At the end of this course students should be able to determine the need for evaluation and develop goals, design an evaluation program, carry out the evaluation including pre-testing and data collection, and collate, report, and disseminate evaluation results.
Content Content addresses program goals and objectives; outcome, impact and process evaluation; evaluation designs, including experimental and quasi-experimental designs; qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques; instrument design, reliability and validity: pre-testing of health promotion materials; an introduction to economic evaluation; practical implementation of an evaluation; collation, reporting and dissemination of results.
