| Objectives | At the completion of the subject, candidates will have developed skills in implementing programs based on the following strategies: mass media; modifying the availability of a health related product; legislative change. | ||

| Content | The subject consists of three modules addressing programs based on different techniques for modifying health behaviour at the community level: Mass Media - which involves the preparation of reports of scientific findings for a lay audience, the preparation of a brief for an advertising agency, and the development of interview skills. Lobbying for Legislative Change - describes the role of legal and political systems in health promotion, and includes the design of a campaign to lobby for political action. Modifying the Availability of a Health-related Product - describes legal and systematic approaches to modifying the availability of health related products; explores the primary production, retail and marketing chain; and involves preparing a detailed case history of a health promotion approach to modifying the availability of one health related product. |
