Evaluation and Evidence-based Practice
There is an increasing emphasis on evidence-based programs and practice in family and community services. This course addresses this growing field in a way that recognises the importance of research, practitioner wisdom, and the lived experience of families. Drawing on real-world examples, you will enhance your understanding, analysis and application of program planning, monitoring and evaluation. By analysing and applying good program design, you will be able to use data as a helpful and effective tool to improve practice and outcomes for families. In the course you will create a program logic and an evaluation plan, identifying appropriate strategies for program planning and evaluation.

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Describe and critique evidence-based programs and practice in working with families and communities.
2. Analyse the links between program activities, outputs and outcomes.
3. Construct and justify a convincing program plan or program logic.
4. Identify, compare and select methods, tools and strategies for monitoring and evaluating programs.
5. Apply advanced knowledge of program planning and evaluation to a specific case or context.

Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience in the field.
