Description

Students will undertake an individual supervised research project incorporating self-directed learning with assistance from their supervisor. Projects will address a health sciences related research question. Students will use evidence based techniques to develop and test a hypothesis. This will ideally be in an area where there is sufficient published literature so that the student is able to critically appraise the topic.

6. Demonstrate advanced oral and written communication skills including the presentation of a research report.

  1. Planning a research question.
  2. Critically appraising the literature.
  3. Developing a testable hypothesis.
  4. Designing a study and selecting a research method.
  5. Obtaining ethics approval (if required).
  6. Managing a research project.
  7. Presenting research results.

Requisites

This course is only available to students enrolled in Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) programs.

Assumed Knowledge

All core courses in the first three years of the relevant program. HLSC3290 Research Methods in Health Sciences.
