In this course students explore biography from a range of contexts through reading and discussion of how these texts were constructed and how they can be read as historical documents.
| Objectives | Upon successful completion of this course students will be expected to demonstrate: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the genre of biography and its social and cultural positioning in Australia; 2. Depth of knowledge and understanding of various forms of biography and the ways in which these are constructed and used; 3. Skills in critically reading social and cultural biography; 4. Knowledge and understanding of the place of biography in Australian social and cultural contexts; 5. Skills in research and communication appropriate to advanced undergraduate level. |
