10 Units
Not available in 2014
Previously offered in 2005
This unit explores in detail a number of specific issues relevant to the management and success of small businesses. Using a variety of different research tools, and through weekly readings and presentations, students will be encouraged to develop an understanding of some of the important contemporary issues affecting, or likely to affect, small business in the near future. Whereas the preceding unit, Small Business Management, emphasised practical "hands-on" skills, this program enhances conceptual and holistic perspectives important to the long-term growth of the small business owner, both as an individual and as a manager.
| Objectives | This unit will help students to: * Develop research and written presentation skills; * Gain an in-depth knowledge of some of the problems associated with running an existing enterprise; * Develop a working knowledge of contemporary research & information sources, which they can use whilst working in an enterprise; and * Better understand the broader community context in which enterprises operate |
