An introduction to the various financial management tools available to new, small and growing firms (such as bootstrap, self equity, debt, factoring, short-term and long-term finance). Students will be shown the different financing options available, their relative advantages and disadvantages, and how to manage these. The course also addresses the applicability of traditional finance and financial management theories in an environment of closely held (small or medium) enterprises. However, the focus of the unit is on the practical management of firm finances, not merely a technical or theoretical discussion of financial issues.
