Applied Finance Research Project

Available to approved students only. Provides students in the Master of Applied Finance degree with the opportunity to undertake a detailed research project in applied finance. The project will allow the student to thoroughly investigate an issue in applied finance and will develop research and reporting skills. Students will be encouraged to select a topic that overlaps with their work environment.

Objectives To provide exposure to a contemporaneous issue or research question in applied finance with the view to providing insights, solutions and or a suggested course of action towards resolving that issue.
Content A research topic will be chosen by the student in consultation with academic staff. The student will be expected to work under the supervision of a nominated supervisor. The research project will involve producing a 12,500 word report that will include a statement of the issue under analysis, a detailed literature survey and a body of analysis with conclusions. This also includes two separate seminar presentations (synopsis and outcomes).
Replacing Course(s) Applied Finance Research Project does not replace any existing courses.

Assumed Knowledge Enrolment in the Project requires the approval of the Head of Department . Students are expected (1) to be proficient in research methodology (e.g. completed ECRM401 or equivalent) and (2) possess an above average gradepoint average (6 or above) and/or relevant industry experience.
