This course provides students with an in-depth analysis of group development and leadership within organisations. Students will have opportunities throughout the course to apply the various theories covered in the lectures to organisational scenarios. This course requires students to work in small groups on a topic of their choice for which they will make a presentation to the class.
| Objectives | On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Provide and grasp the relevance of different definitions of "leadership" and "teamwork" based on the literature. 2. Provide in-depth analyses of teams and leadership within organisations. 3. Critique relationships between leadership and teams. 4. Specify the limitations and potential of teams. 5. Discuss cultural differences in leadership and in the use of teams. 6. Critically analyse current leadership theories and teamwork models. 7. Indicate, according to current research and/or workplace experience, strategies for enhancing teamwork and leadership practices. 8. Reflect on ways to develop their own leadership skills and functioning in teams. |
