This course introduces students to the foundations of management theory and to the nature of human behaviour at work. It comprises the history and analysis of management theory and concepts relating to: individual, group and organisational processes. As a prescribed course in the MBA and the Master of Human Resource Management, it provides students with foundation knowledge and learning skills required in other courses such as writing and presentation, critical analysis, argumentation and group work skills
| Objectives | Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Understand the theories and models about management and organisational behaviour (MOB). 2. Appreciate and evaluate the current literature and research findings on important management and OB issues. 3. Apply the learnt theories and models to the problem solving of pratical issues in organisational scenarios. 4. Participate in team-based activities and learn from experiences working with people in teams. 5. Reflect critically upon their own behaviours as a manager or as an individual employee and identify effective strategies for improving their skills and practice in different workplace situations. 6. Communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and speaking. 7. Learn critical/analytical thinking and organising skills in a management context. |
