This course aims to consolidate and extend the concepts covered in Intermediate Mathematics 1. The course includes foundation concepts in probability, statistics, normal distribution, binomial theorem, correlation and regression and their application to problem solving.

Objectives By the end of the course, the students will:
* have developed skills in probability
* have gained competence in the basic skills required for data presentation and analysis of statistics.
* have been introduced to the concepts of correlation and regression and their application in solving specific problems.
* demonstrate a broad understanding of the subject area which, together with EPMATH135 Intermediate Mathematics is suitable for undergraduate studies in Science, Social Science and Health Science and degrees with a statistical component.
Content 1. Probability: simple probability, experimental probability, expectation, complementary events; set theory; Venn diagrams; contingency tables, conditional probability, tree diagrams and tables
2. Statistics: types of data, types of graphs, frequency distribution table, frequency histograms and polygons, stem and leaf plots, grouped data, cumulative frequency; measures of dispersion.
3. The Normal Distribution: statistics mode on the calculator, area under the curve, Z-scores
4. Correlation and Regression: correlation, line of best fit, linear regression
5. Further Probability: counting procedures, permutations, combinations; binomial theorem.
