Teaches the practical clinical assessment and management of poisoning from common plant and animal toxins. This includes an understanding of the underlying mechanisms of toxin delivery and toxicity.

| Content | The teaching will be based around clinical problems supported by monographs and key literature. It will specifically deal with Australasian and Asian snake envenoming; Arthropod envenoming, including spiders, scorpions and hymenoptera; Marine envenoming (jellyfish and venomous fish) and marine poisoning (ciguatera, pufferfish and shellfish poisoning). Plant poisoning will include cardiotoxic, neurotoxic and cytotoxic plants, and mushroom poisoning. | ||
