This course assists in the development of a comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and histories through Australia's development. It covers from the time before the invasion of the British through to the beginning of the 20th Century.

Objectives By the end of this course students will:
1. be introduced to introductory level information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their historical relations with non-Indigenous Australians.
2. be aware of the range of ideas about treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
3. have practised researching unfamiliar topics using a range of research tools.
4. be familiar with and have practised the skills required for effective examination performance.
Content Students will use experiential-based learning to examine Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, examining issues such as invasion, cultural heritage, family structures and changing lifestyles.

Critical reflection on learning and identification of ongoing learning.

Demonstrate powers of critical analysis and their application to a particular issue.
Examination: Formal Final examination in the University examination period. 40%.
Students are presented with the opportunity to display the application of knowledge and skills.
