This course will introduce students to basic linguistic concepts while engaging in a study of how the language works within society. The basic elements of grammar will allow the students to have a working knowledge of the English language. This will enable them to continue with the subject in their teaching courses while providing a sound base for understanding some of the social elements of language and how they are utilized within society.
