EPHUMA132 aims to provide students with an understanding of the origin of cultural studies, key terms to develop a model for understanding culture and society, the role of language, work and leisure in cultures. A cross cultural study using an ethnographic approach is provided to develop in students a range of academic skills.
| Objectives | Students will: 1. develop an awareness of continuity and change in society and culture. 2. gain some understanding of cultural institutions and their contribution to society. 3. develop knowledge of the theoretical underpinning of the role of culture in society. 4. develop skills related to research and academic writing for different purposes and audiences. |
