This course builds knowledge and understanding of the discipline of English, encompassing the study of literature and the practice of creative writing. In particular, it enhances skills and capacities through carrying through the first stage of an extended research thesis or creative project.
| Objectives | By the end of this course students will have: 1. An advanced comprehension of contemporary issues in English and creative writing. 2. An awareness of good practice in the design and presentation of a research project (either literary-critical or creative). 3. The acquired skills and methods necessary to undertake complex analysis and effective communication on topics in English and in creative writing. 4. Enhanced disciplinary knowledge by way of detailed study of literary texts and readings. |

| Transition | The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Science Honours programs underwent an external program review in 2008. As part of this review some changes were implemented for all Honours courses. If you enrolled prior to 2009, you will be able to complete your Honours program as it stood at your time of enrollment, this being: - Your long research essay or major creative project will be 15,000 words. - You will be given opportunity to give an oral presentation of your work, but this is not mandatory. |
