Description
This course is the second in a series of professional practice courses that introduces students to professional skills that are integral to an engineering workplace. The focus of all the courses is on integrating professional skills with technical skills. The course content is delivered by subject specialists and students are asked to apply their theoretical learning to engineering-based assessments. The second of the professional development courses introduces students to sustainability and `Green' engineering concepts. Students will continue their written communication skills building through the assignments and tutorials for this course.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Articulate the founding principles of sustainable engineering and their application to open-ended problem scenarios
2. Use the principles of Life Cycle Analysis to explain how sustainability applies to their personal and professional lives
3. Devise strategies for responding to complex, sustainable engineering demands
4. Communicate the role of engineers and scientists within a resource-constrained world
5. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills for a purpose
6. Utilise reflective tools to evaluate their own learning.
