Develops skills in planning, communication, observation and lesson preparation within the Science Key Learning Area.

Objectives The course addresses the following objectives:
a.development of personal teaching skills
b.development of curriculum understanding in the area of Science
c. Development of resources for teaching Science in the secondary school
d. development of interpersonal skills in working with students and staff
Content Mass lecture topics and the related course specialist tutorial include:

Introduction to the Internet
Planning for learning
Peer teaching
Cognitive demands underlying learning
Conducting practical lessons
Managing the classroom
Preventative management stategies
Adapting content for individual differences
Strategies for assessing different types of learning from the syllabus
Lesson planning
Planning using teacher-directed strategies and matching syllabus content with strategies
Becoming a reflective teacher.

Transition The new course will replace EDDE467 from Semester 1, 2000. Students failing EDDE467 will be required to enrol in and complete EDUC4030.
