This course will develop students pedagogical understanding of a variety of teaching strategies suitable for use at secondary school level. Students will examine Visual Arts syllabi. They will consider the rationale of the syllabi, develop lesson and unit plans suitable for a particular syllabus (using knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies introduced in this course) and gather resources that will help them to teach Visual Arts at the secondary school level.

| Content | There will be a series of weekly lectures examining a broad array of teaching strategies suitable for use with pupils at the secondary school level. The lectures will examine general bases for these approaches and criteria for teacher decisions regarding their effective use. There will be weekly tutorials conducted by a Visual Arts specialist. The tutorials will cover specific programming and evaluation approaches for Visual Arts classes. |
