Arts and cultural learning theories are examined as they inform key learning concepts such as aesthetic understanding, design, visuality, improvisation, innovation, creativity, intuitive, expressive and reflective understanding, performative and embodied knowing, symbolic learning, representation and narrative theory. Media, culture and arts literacies, interactivity and audience are also examined and together all of the above provide a background for commencing a critical examination of the impact and relationship between the creative and performing arts, culture and education.
| Objectives | This course provides students with the opportunity to: 1. examine the range of arts and socio-cultural learning theories and key concepts as they inform personal learning, culture and education generally; 2. study the role and impact of arts learning technologies in a nominated learning context , formal, informal, national, international, audience development and community engagement; and 3. critically evaluate the contribution of arts learning within contemporary learning debates. |
