This course explores a range of theories to explain how reading and writing develop. The course will encourage students to challenge a number of popular perspectives and consider the implications for practice.
ObjectivesThis course provides students with the opportunity to: 1. develop a critical understanding of theories of literacy acquisition; 2. explore their instructional implications; and 3. apply their understanding of literacy development to assess literacy issues and design a programme tailored to the individual students' needs in an educational context. | |||
