The course assists teachers to examine their own ideas about boys and learning, and their own classroom practice and assessment strategies in relation to boys' learning needs. Theoretical and practical knowledge of multiple intellegences, teaching and learning styles and classroom organisation and assessment approaches will be critically analysed. Case studies from primary, middle school and senior secondary will be examined.

Objectives 1. Investigate current information on boys' learning preferences.
2. Examine case studies on initiatives in educating boys in primary, middle and senior secondary contexts.
3. Understand theoretical and practical knowledge on learning styles and multiple intelligences.
5. Examine current classroom practices and assessment approaches for boys.
6. Investigate current information on women and men teachers contributions to educating boys.
Content 1. Current information on boys learning preferences.
2. Case studies on initiatives in educating boys.
Students will critically review a range of case studies on school initiatives for boys in various contexts.
3. Theoretical and practical knowledge on learning styles and multiple intelligences.
Students will review current literature on learning styles and multiple intelligences as it applies to the variety of differences amongst boys.
4. Current classroom practices and assessment approaches for boys.
5. Students will identify the range of current classroom practices and assessment approaches for boys in primary, middle and senior secondary contexts.
