Introduction to Educational Administration

The overall aim of this course is to provide the students with a comprehensive theoretical
foundation, and an understanding of the best practices in educational administration.
Participants will be encouraged to develop their skills and competencies in order to refine
and improve their practice in leading, managing and teaching.

|Objectives||The course seeks to: |
- Enhance the knowledge and understanding of the basic theories, principles and concepts in educational administration;
- Facilitate the development of skills and competencies of the participants to adopt the appropriate strategies, techniques and approaches in moving the organizations on a path of continuous improvement.
- Facilitate the development of critical thinking to draw from the knowledge, experience, research-outcomes and best practices to refine and improve ones own practice.
|Content||This course provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ten broad topics. |
These include: everyone is a manager, historical evolution of educational administration,
the nature and importance of educational administration, characteristics of educational organizations, administrative responsibilities and tasks, administrative and instructional leadership, decision-making, organizational communication, leading & managing meetings, and
human resources management.
