Description

Over all aim of this course is to provide the students with a sound theoretical base towards effective practices in leading and managing educational organizations from a strategic perspective. Particular emphasis is placed on leadership and strategic management including strategic planning.

Learning Outcomes

1. Enhance the knowledge and understanding of the theoretical concepts, best practices and current literature relating to leadership and strategic management;

2. Assist the development of skills, competencies and critical and strategic thinking to be pro-active and effective leaders and managers with a commitment to continuous improvement; and

3. Encourage the adoption of flexible styles of leadership with empowerment and strategic planning to energise the staff towards the creation of efficient & effective organisations.

Content

This course provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ten broad topics.
These include: The Leader and the Art of Leading; How to Select an Appropriate Leadership Style; Leadership of Professionally Staffed Organizations; Leading and Managing Organizations; Leading and Managing Change; the Concept of Strategic Management; Strategic Management Perspectives, Levels & Modes of Strategy; Managing Strategically; and Strategic Planning.
