Provides an introduction to the study of disability and its impact on the individual, families and the community. On successful completion of the topic, students will be aware of debates surrounding the definition of disability and implications for classification and assessment. The student will also be familiar with approaches to individual assessment, the major causes of disabilities and the linkages between individuals, families and communities in relation to the nature and impact of disability.
