Develops in students the knowledge and skills to understand the role of technology in a wide range of educational contexts relevant to their own situation. A critical knowledge of the practical and theoretical issues will be fostered in regard to how technologies are utilized and integrated within education. In addition, students will be expected to gain an understanding of the research which underpins the use of technology generally.

Objectives The subject will allow students to develop a broad understanding of three key areas in relation to educational technology: research, policy and practice. At the completion of the subject students will be able to:
* Demonstrate an awareness of the historical context of educational technology and its impact on education;
* Demonstrate an understanding of the research literature and scholarly writing that underpins the use of educational technology in teaching and learning;
* Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various educational technologies and their use in educational settings

Exploring efficacy of technology to enhance educational outcomes
Developing a curriculum framework for effective use of technology in education
