This course deepens students understanding of the principles and practices of teaching and learning Visual Arts in secondary schools. It will explore current issues and trends in Visual Arts education, and aims to deepen the students' understanding of the role of art in all forms and media, in contemporary and historical cultures and visual worlds, with specific reference to how popular culture informs current art practice. It provides for the acquisition of both practical and propositional knowledge, and it acknowledges the different sets of beliefs and values that condition understanding and practice.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will have the capacity to:

1. Discuss current issues and trends in Visual Arts education.
2. Debate the role of art in all forms and media, in contemporary and historical cultures and visual worlds, with specific reference to how popular culture informs current art practice.
3. Acquire of both practical and propositional knowledge, and it acknowledges the different sets of beliefs and values that condition understanding and practice.
