Develops an understanding of the skills, processes and outcomes necessary to teach the syllabus area of Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) in the K-6 curriculum.

Objectives After completing this course students will be able to:
a. demonstrate an understanding of current syllabus requirements in the HSIE area
b. compile sequential units of work appropriate for a variety of developmental levels
c. demonstrate a variety of teaching techniques appropriate for the HSIE area
d. integrate teaching methods and content associated with other KLAs with the HSIE area
Content Policies and practices associated with Studies of Society and Its Environment nationally and internationally;
NSW HSIE documents and resources;
Integrated programming of HSIE and other KLAs;
Fieldwork experiences in HSIE area.
