This course explores the principles and practices of teaching and learning Stage 5 Music in secondary schools. Students will explore lesson planning and programming for Stage 5 Music curriculum; and a range of strategies, technologies and resources for teaching and assessing Music at the secondary school level. Students will explore course, programming and assessment requirements of the NSW School Certificate for Music. Attention will be given to strategies for teaching and assessing practices of performance, improvisation, listening and composition components of the Music curriculum. Students will also explore current issues, trends, and practices in Music pedagogy.
| Objectives | Upon completion of this course, students will have the capacity to: 1. Articulate the role and value of Music education in contemporary society and the broader school curriculum. 2. Develop lesson plans, programs and assessment tasks for Stage 5 Music curriculum. 3. Use a range of strategies, technologies and resources for teaching and assessing Music at the secondary school level. |
