This course deepens students' understanding of the principles and practices of teaching and learning in English in Stage 4/5 by applying their prior knowledge to school contexts. Students will conduct an analysis of a school context and explore planning and programming for Stage 4/5 English curriculum in this context. Students will experience ways of differentiating curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners in the English classroom with consideration of a range of strategies, technologies and resources for teaching and assessing reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing.
| Objectives | Upon completion of this course, students will have the capacity to: 1. Apply their knowledge of school contexts, and their understanding of the principles of Quality Teaching, to the teaching and learning of Stage 4/5 English. 2. Develop lesson plans, programs and assessment tasks for Stage 4/5 English informed by an analysis of a school context. 3. Differentiate the curriculum by adapting strategies, technologies and resources for teaching and assessing reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing, to meet the diverse needs of learners in the English classroom. |
