Students will apply movement principles and develop skill competencies and teaching techniques across a range of core physical activities. Specifically, students will examine the areas of dance and gymnastics.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will be expected to:

1) demonstrate skill competences relating to a range of dance and gymnastics physical activities
2) display a capacity to apply appropriate teaching/coaching strategies to dance and gymnastics
3) demonstrate an understanding of the safety issues regarding school-aged participation in these activities
Content This course focuses on a variety of performance activities relevant to dance and gymnastics. Students will participate in practical tutorials to develop skills and confidence in a range of dance and gymnastics activities.
Replacing Course(s) This course will combine the dance and gymnastics strands from EDUC1014/3032 and EDUC2057, respectively
Transition Transitional Arrangements will be managed on a case by case basis according to the needs of the student.

Examination: Formal Assignment 4 - 40%

An examination covering all course content will be administered at the completion of the course.
Presentations - Group Assignment 1 - 20%

A group presentation relating to teaching a specific gymnastics activity will be presented to the rest of the tutorial group in a team-teaching manner.
Presentations - Group Assignment 2 - 20%

A group presentation relating to teaching a specific dance activity will be presented to the rest of the tutorial group in a team-teaching manner.
Presentations - Individual Assignment 3 - 20%

An individual presentation relating to a specific dance style will be presented at the completion of the course
