Designed to introduce students to the multiple, interacting contexts in which teaching occurs. Students will examine the structural, sociocultural and historical contexts of teaching and critically reflect on their interaction and implications for teaching practice.
| Objectives | Students should be able to demonstrate the ability to: a. Identify structures, principles, and values of education systems and the implications of these for teaching practice; b. Identify social and cultural differences in global, national and local educational contexts and the implications of these for teaching practice; c. Assess the impact of historical factors on contexts; d. Develop pedagogical principles and practices for contemporary contexts. |
