Develops an understanding of concepts and issues that are important to the development of healthy lifestyles from an early age. It examines the implications for teaching and learning personal development, health and physical education within the context of the curriculum. This course develops knowledge and practical skills for beginning teachers to plan, implement, assess and evaluate the subject matter of PDHPE.
| Objectives | Upon the completion of this course, students will be expected to demonstrate: 1. Understanding of well-being as embracing personal development, health and physical activity; 2. Knowledge of the issues involved in the safety of children and the ability to teach protective strategies; 3. Understanding of the current health status of Australia's children and the factors influencing personal health choices; 3. Capacity to motivate young people to participate in regular physical activity; 4. Ability to teach fundamental movement skills; 5. Knowledge and skills to plan and teach developmentally appropriate for games and sports activities in educational settings, and 7. Understanding of the general principles for programming, assessing, reporting and evaluating in PDHPE. |
