Economics IVB

Economics IVB is one of the four 20 unit courses which are undertaken by students as part of the Economics Honours program.

Objectives
The Honours program provides students with advanced training in economic theory, econometric techniques and policy analysis and develops their capacity to undertake research.
Content
Students take five semester length Economics topics from those offered by the School of Policy. The four compulsory 4000 level topics are Macroeconomic Analysis, Microeconomic Analysis, Contemporary Economic Analysis and Policy, and Research Methodology. The fifth, elective topic can be chosen from the other 4000 level Economics topics, which include Advanced Econometrics, Labour Economics and Special Topics A/B, from the Economics courses at the 3000 level OR from the 6000 level courses offered in the Master of Trade and Development. A supervised research essay not exceeding 10,000 words (30 units) is also undertaken. Students are required to have a minimum level of expertise in econometrics and quantitative methods equivalent to ECON2450 for entry into the program.
