Enables students to develop the depth of creative and analytical skills necessary for performance at an advanced level. Students are required to display academic and professional skills of a standard necessary for entry to a higher degree program and/or principal roles in industry.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
1 Develop and articulate individual concepts relevant to a studio specialisation
2 To gain appropriate knowledge and skills through research and experimentation
3 Display an ability to develop and write research proposals, methodology and referencing appropriate to their specialist visual communication study
4 Develop appropriate research writing, documentation and presentation standards
5 Display an awareness of trends of contemporary professional practice and ethical standards
6 Document theoretical material in a scholarly manner
7 Demonstrate a command of research skills and methodology appropriate for entry performance into a higher degree.
The content of the program will vary from year to year depending on the number of students, their specific interests and the availability of staff.
Topics may include:
1 research methodology
2. research writing skills
3. the documentation of professional and practical methodology
4. trends of contemporary professional practice and ethical standards
5. dissertation and seminar preparation and presentation.
Appropriate undergraduate degree at Credit level or above.
