Building upon the fundamental skills and knowledge associated with design principles and visual communication technology, this course challenges students to produce design solutions in a context of current and emerging digital technologies. With a particular focus on screen-based design context, students will examine the application of traditional design principles and creative problem solving strategies to the interface associated with digital media devices.
| Objectives | On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Describe new and emerging directions for visual communication in the context of digital media. 2. Devise and produce design solutions for specific digital media problems. 3. Demonstrate a basic understanding of usability and interaction design principles. 4. Critically evaluate examples of visual communication in the context of digital media interface design. 5. Communicate using the terminology specific to visual communication digital media. 6. Demonstrate an applied knowledge of computer hardware and software associated with visual communication technology. |
