Media Production: Radio

This course is an important part of the media production major for those students wishing to follow a career in radio or sound production. In this course students develop the skills to allow them to work in aspects of local, network and online radio production and programming. It allows them to develop and analyse project based material pertinent to radio plays, features and documentaries. They will also develop knowledge of scripting for radio, working with talent and technologies of the radio studio. In doing so they will develop an understanding of radio preproduction, production and post production and cross-platform delivery of the radio content they have developed.

Not to count with CMNS2400, Media Production: Introduction to Radio if completed prior to 2009.

In order to participate in this course, students must complete a compulsory Workplace Health and Safety requirement. Students will receive full information on this Compulsory Course Component in the course outline provided by the school.

Objectives At the successful completion of this course, students will have:
1. Experience in the communicative skills and technologies of radio production.

2. An understanding of radio production as it relates to various career paths in community, commercial and government radio that is locally based, networked and delivered online.

3. Skills required for making content for radio and allow them to become competent in production and live broadcast as it applies to the radio industry.

4. An understanding of radio plays, features and documentaries.
