Comprises an introduction to higher-level theory of structures. Topics include: elementary plastic theory of structures with application for slab analysis and design, dynamics of structures, stability of structural elements and structural systems. Where it is possible, the topics are linked to requirements of Australian Standards. Revision is also made of the most common software used in the work force for advanced structural analysis.
| Objectives | A1. To know the terminology and be able to communicate topics of higher-level theory of structures at a professional level. A2. To understand the basics of higher-level theory of structures. A3. To apply the theory for solution of simple exercise problems. A4. To know the major requirements of relevant Australian Standards. A5. To know features and limitations of the most common software used in professional practice for advanced structural analysis. |
