Complements the earlier work on chemical engineering process design and operation and includes specific material on planning, selection, estimation and control of chemical engineering processes. Previous material given in the course, involving chemical engineering unit operation design, is related to process flowsheets, process economics and cost estimation. The course will include a general overview of management, company structures, taxation, legal frameworks (especially related to environmental legislation), intellectual property and patents, business plans and proposals, markets, competition, and Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat analysis as related specifically to chemical engineering industries.
Objectives1. Awareness of the Chemical Engineering Business Environment and Economics. 2. An awareness of Legal Frameworks (esp. Environmental Legislation). 3. An awareness of Intellectual property. 4. Management Computing applications. 5. Project Planning Skills. 6. Proposal Writing Skills. 7. Organisational Abilities.
