This course will examine and explore the process of making theatre in Australia, Asia and the Pacific region. A diverse range of approaches to theatre making in Australia, Asia and the Pacific, with a particular focus on the construction of cultural identities, will inform students in creating their own performances.

Objectives After successfully completing this course students should demonstrate:
1. An awareness of a diverse range of approaches to constructing cultural identities in Australia, Asia and the Pacific, via the medium of theatre and performance making.
2. A basic understanding of the theories and political contexts informing case studies of performances in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
3. The ability to experiment with a range of approaches that explore the relationship between form and content.
4. Foundational skills in creating, structuring and presenting a performance that expresses cultural identities in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
Content Case study theoretical and practical explorations of the four main areas informing the creation of theatre in the contexts of Australian, Asian and Pacific theatre: Body, Self, Site and Script.
The preparation and presentation of a performance expressing Australian, Asian and Pacific cultural identities.
Replacing Course(s) CAPA1410 and ARTC1410 Australasian Theatre and Performance.
Transition Students who have successfully completed CAPA1410 Australasian Theatre and Performance or ARTC1410 Australasian Theatre and Performance are not permitted to enrol into CAPA2410.
