The course lays the groundwork for a critical [re]evaluation of performance practice. With reference to a variety of historical and cultural practices, the course will examine the foundational elements of creative performance, Body, Space, and Place, with an emphasis on practice-led creative exploration.

| Content | This course introduces students to the ways in which performance space is constructed, and the ways in which a dramatic text is created and then translated from page to stage At the successful completion of this course students will demonstrate: 1. The ability to critically analyse a diverse range of performance events within the context of historical and contemporary performance practices; 2. A basic repertoire of performance-making skills; 3. Ability to apply and integrate basic skills of performance making in a collaborative environment. |
