The aim of this unit is that the student gains practical experience, usually in workplace settings, in the application of knowledge and skills learnt during the coursework of the Masters program. The student will provide evidence of having met this goal by presenting a portfolio made up of preface and project reports. This course is offered in conjunction with the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA).
On completion students should:
1. have a greater understanding of real-life biostatistical problems;
2. further develop the statistical skills they learned
3. produce a portfolio or treatise/dissertation on the analyses they conducted during the workplace experience, thus increasing their writing skills
Students will not be provided with written material for this course. They will learn through their practical experience and through advice provided by their allocated supervisor.
Students need to have completed a minimum of 40 units, including Data Management and Statistical Computing (BIOS6010) and Linear Models (BIOS6070).
