Promotes a deep understanding of the content of typical Crew Resource Management (CRM) courses by exploring the scientific research in key concept areas, including communication, leadership, decision making, situational awareness and conflict resolution. Issues in CRM program development, implementation, evaluation and regulation are addressed and students are provided with the theoretical knowledge base to facilitate design and evaluation of CRM programs.

Objectives At the end of the course students should:
1. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of key concepts in group behavior including:
i group processes
ii communication
iii leadership
iv group decision making
v situational awareness
vi attitudes and motivation
vii conflict resolution
2. Describe methods used in the development of CRM courses for specific organizations.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the cross cultural implications in CRM training.
4. Discuss the major issues and influences in the implementation of CRM programs
5. Describe methods of program evaluation.
6. Demonstrate an understanding of the political and economic implications of CRM program regulation.
7. Develop an ability to critically review research papers in the field.
8. Identify and locate information relevant to topic areas.
9. Participate in electronic communication.
10. Demonstrate ability to communicate ideas in written form.
11. Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively to complete tasks.
Content The course examines issues in CRM program development, implementation, evaluation and regulation. Students are provided with the theoretical knowledge base to facilitate design and evaluation of CRM programs. It also promotes a deep understanding of the content of typical Crew Resource Management (CRM) courses by exploring the scientific research in key concept areas, including communication, leadership, decision making, situational awareness and conflict resolution.

Assumed Knowledge It is expected that the majority of students would hold a CPL, ATPL, LAME or ATS license, and has significant industry experience and/or has completed an appropriate undergraduate degree or equivalent.
