The course examines the professional practice for disaster professionals. The key focus is making decisions in a professional manner. Student will explore not for profit entrepreneurship approaches to disaster reconstruction. The course will also cover codes of practice and ethical challenges associated disaster related operations. Cross professional engagement and team management approaches will also be covered.
| Objectives | On completion of this course students should be able to: • Critically evaluate the role of not-for-profit entrepreneurship approaches in post disaster recovery • Critically evaluate professional dilemmas faced in post disaster situation and appropriately respond • Appreciate cross-cultural difference and judiciously apply appropriate strategies to be culturally inclusive • Able appreciate alternative conflict resolution mechanisms • Critically evaluate the role of social media in post disaster reconstruction • Appreciate team and knowledge management approaches |
